It's about why he's so viciously attacked and scrutinized by many people.

:3 He's apparently too far of a leap for those people still pining for the good ol' days....

Republican black president: We can do that.

Democratic white president: Sure, why not?

Democratic Half-black president: OMFG WTF? SOCIALIST! COMMUNIST! FASCIST!

Thoughts, anyone?

I think a lot of the "hate" has to do with health care and taxes.

Have an article from the only right-winger I know personally:
http://www.dankennedypolitics.com/fromthosewonderfulfolks.pdf</p>

I can only assume that the Murdoch and his brethren (the Kochs, etc) think similarly and are thus motivated to fight Obama by any means; and without these guys, the "tea party movement" would most likely still be an extremist club consisting of a few dozen rednecks.

Grass roots movement, my ass.

The Tea Party Movement is about as grass-roots as the Astroturf in the court yards at my school.

But why? What do they get from all this?

Well, most of it's real grass, but they have Astroturf where the grass is most heavily walked on.

Still, right now I find myself asking,

What does the Tea Party want exactly? What does the GOP want?

And what would happen if either of them got their unrestricted way?

From my view, it's ideology over pragmatism. Sometimes you see values being spread for personal gain, or gain for the beneficiaries involved, but a lot of this is based on a semi-religious concept of value and free enterprise that somehow lead to America becoming the superpower it is.

The concept is this:
If I start a new business and make $300,000, this money is what I just created, because I offer some kind of product or service in exchange. If I take it and leave, you'd be at no loss, unless I tricked you into buying worthless crap. If I make $300,000,000, same deal. But when I make 300 million, I have to pay a lot more taxes, so these evil liberals punish me for creating more wealth and I'll cry and go somewhere else with lower taxes.

You can expand it to the point where Carnegie and Morgan created the American economy, and without them you would still look like Afghanistan, but that's a bit overly randish, even for people on the far right.

The nice thing about it is that it's not "might makes right", but "if you like this, you like freedom", and you need to frame it that way if you want the poorest of the poor to support you, instead of fighting you.

What does the Tea Party want exactly?

The tea party is the right-wing equivalent to anarchists in their 20's. They don't know what they want, but they hate what they have, and blame it on either corporations or government.

He's used as a symbol for everything Republicans can't stand. They have to attack him in order to get their point across, all the while manipulating him to push their agenda.

It's twisted.

My theory about why Obama is hated is:

1. He's black.
2. He's a Democrat.

End of story.

Aside from acting as a door mat, Obama should be receiving Christmas gifts from the GOP for his blackiness.

He makes the glass ceiling even more invisible.

This is what wingnuts do. They viciously attacked Clinton's daughter. They accused him of smuggling coke through Mena. They accused him of murdering Vince Foster. Why? Because he was a Democrat.

Nothing out of the ordinary for the reptilian brained American.

This is simply what they do.

The office of the President does not have the power to make his opponents behave in good faith and honestly. Liberals need to understand that.

Some Obama haters point to alleged gaps and anomalies in Obama's paper trail as evidence that he must have entered our world from a parallel universe or something.

I don't hate the guy, but I pegged him as a charlatan a couple years ago when I saw screaming crowds treat him like the resurrection of Elvis. I just think Obama got promoted above his merits because of white liberal guilt, a lucky choice in patrons and the bad experience we had with Bush and Cheney.

ITT: Posts from people who have obviously not read the man's books and instead project their own desires on him.

Read his books and you'll see that Obama the President is exactly the same as Obama the candidate is exactly the same as Obama the community organizer.

I hate feeling like a cheerleader for him, but y'all just sound silly as all fuck.

White liberal guilt. Shit, pretty ballsy and pretty fucking stupid stuff up in here.

I don't know how you can defend a guy who doesn't live up to many of his promises. He's done some good things, but any president would get some things done.

The only thing I'll throw Obama's way is he's only been in office two years. Let's see where he's at in 2012.

Folks spent the Bush years bitching that the President thought he was all powerful.

Now folks spend the Obama years bitching that the President isn't all powerful enough.

I think some folks just like to bitch.

You know what happens to Democratic Presidents who don't think they have to compromise?

They become Jimmy Carter.

Compromising is a bit different than being a door mat. Again though, maybe things will get better by 2012.

It's important to keep in mind that one man doesn't run the show.
