When it comes to Obama's policies everyone's an expert. Here's a run down of some of the more popular conspiracies and myths surrounding Obama's policies.
These days words like "socialist", "communist" and "fascist" have no real meaning for most Americans other than "something not desired." Some correctly apply parts of state-run projects as socialist, but they often forget the Police, Fire Departments, roads, and so forth are also socialist projects in that respect. Usually when you point that fact out, they claim that those in particular aren't socialist, only things they don't like.
The National Secretary of the Socialist Party USA had this to say about the rumors[34]:
"Barack Obama's programs are not socialist. The vast majority of his proposals are anti-worker (or he might say 'pro-business'). His health care proposals are more to save the for-profit insurance industry and do not have the goal of ending for-profit insurance. He has refused to support a Senate version of HR676, which would create a single-payer program (not socialist but much better than we have, and [which has] the support of labor and community organizations across the US). Many of his other economic proposals are pro-corporate.
"A socialist program (even a reformist one) would not be a program that props up capitalism when it fails, but one that transforms the economy. None of Senator Obama's proposals do that. Senator Obama's tax plan is regressive and even less 'progressive' than programs put forward under such conservative administrations like the one of Richard Nixon."
The National Secretary of the World Socialist Party said[34]:
"Obama is as much a socialist as the Pope is an atheist. Income redistribution isn't a socialist act. It might aid in ameliorating income disparities within a capitalist economy for a limited time. But the logic of capitalism demands the rich grow richer (more capitalization is needed) and the poor grow poorer (their work creates the needed capital used by the rich)."
Socialist Party Campaign Clearinghouse Coordinator said[34]:
"The idea that Barack Obama is socialist, or quasi-socialist, or semi-socialist, or socialist-light, or anything of the sort, is far-right nonsense. Barack Obama, like John McCain, is very much a 'politician as usual', fully committed to the continuation of the capitalist system and the expansion of its empire."
Of course, this could be considered a wide-reaching socialist conspiracy.
Seeing how Socialism is a step prior to Communism, to be a Communist you must first be a Socialist. Seeing how Socialists don't even think he's one, therefore he's definitely not a communist.
But what about Fascist?
Well, fascism is a hard system to define, it's definitely nationalist, authoritarian, and militaristic. Furthermore, fascism has corporatist tenants as well, with a lot of corporate involvement in the state. This definition can apply to the US prior to World War II until today, but the overbearing authoritarian aspect just isn't there - unless of course you're a conspiracy theorist and believe it's there, just hidden[35].
There are two primary rumors involving records.
The first is about Executive Order 13489, which is claimed will allow President Obama to ban individuals, congress, etc from viewing records without his approval. But this is hardly the case, because the records in question are only presidential records, and the order does not apply to records prior to Obama being president - so this isn't some kind of attempt to hide his past[36][37].
The second rumor is that First Lady Michelle Obama's senior thesis was blocked from view until after the 2008 presidential election was over. This changed when the Obama campaign made an online version available in February 2008[38].
In June 2009 there was an Internet freak out that Obama was attempting to pass legislation to allow him to serve more than two terms in office. This of course is a lie, because Obama is not supporting such legislation.
A few different democratic representatives have introduced this legislation many times over the last two decades or so - even while George W Bush and George H W Bush were president, thus leading to similar hysteria at those times.
Jose E. Serrano (D) of New York introduced HJ RES 5 in January 2009[39], but also introduced similar bills in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, and 2007[40].
Steny Hoyer (D) of Maryland has introduced similar legislation six additional times: 1995, 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005[41]
From 1991 to 1999 other Representatives have also done the same: David Dreier of California (R), Barney Frank of Massachusetts (D), Mithc McConnell of Kentucky (Senator, R), Guy Vander Jagt of Michigan (R), Martin Sabo of Minnesota (DFL)
Like most bills introduced, none of these were ever voted on - that I could find.
A popular rumor on the Internet in early 2009 amongst anti-Palestinians:
Obama has issued an Order to provide funds to relocation hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to the United States for resettlement.
Sometimes it includes references to HR 1388 (see Obama's Hitler Youth!) instead of an order. The reality is that the president allotted $20 million for humanitarian aid to Gaza under the Migration and Refugee Assistance Act of 1962[42][43], and it involved no relocation of Palestinians.
There have been reports of Obama establishing some sort of youth brigade since before he was even nominated to be the Democratic presidential candidate. This is even referenced many times in Alex Jones' The Obama Deception, despite it not being true at all.
The bill most often referenced is HR 1388 which expands programs like AmeriCorps, but does not force anyone to volunteer or create a 1 million person army as people like Alex Jones claim[44].
First if you haven't referenced my Obama is a Socialist, a Communist, and/or a Fascist section of this article, I suggest you read that first.
Anyway, just as I showed the socialist view of Obama above, the Nazi view of Obama's policies isn't too dissimilar:
Commander Jeff Schoep of the National Socialist Movement, called the comparisons by the Democrats and Republicans "kind of laughable."
"The two Party system is a sham, and neither the Dems or Repubs can get the job done by fixing our economy, therefore they are busy taking jabs at each other by attempting to link each other to us"[45]
Rense.com has an article from November 20, 2008 that details Tom Fife's account of the crazy scheme by the former Soviet Union to overthrow the United States. Here are some interesting excerpts:
In early 1992 a co-worker of sorts to the author had a wife who was critical of America[81]:
"You Americans always like to think that you have the perfect government and your people are always so perfect. Well then, why haven't you had a woman president by now? You had a chance to vote for a woman vice-president and you didn't do it."
The general response went something along the lines that you don't vote for someone just because of their sex. Besides, you don't vote for vice-president, but the president and vice-president as a ticket.
"Well, I think you are going to be surprised when you get a black president very soon."
[...]
"What if I told you that you will have a black president very soon and he will be a Communist?"
One of us asked, "It sounds like you know something we don't know."
"Yes, it is true. This is not some idle talk. He is already born and he is educated and being groomed to be president right now. You will be impressed to know that he has gone to the best schools of Presidents. He is what you call "Ivy League". You don't believe me, but he is real and I even know his name. His name is Barack. His mother is white and American and his father is black from Africa. That's right, a chocolate baby! And he's going to be your President."
She became more and more smug as she presented her stream of detailed knowledge and predictions so matter-of-factly - as though all were foregone conclusions. "It's all been thought out. His father is not an American black so he won't have that social slave stigma. He is intelligent and he is half white and has been raised from the cradle to be an atheist and a Communist. He's gone to the finest schools. He is being guided every step of the way and he will be irresistible to America."
[...]
She rattled off a complete litany. He was from Hawaii. He went to school in California. He lived in Chicago. He was soon to be elected to the legislature. "Have no doubt: he is one of us, a Soviet."
Since I had dabbled in languages, I knew a smattering of Arabic. I made a comment: "If I remember correctly, 'Barack' comes from the Arabic word for 'Blessing.' That seems to be an odd name for an American." She replied quickly, "Yes. It is 'African'", she insisted, "and he will be a blessing for world Communism. We will regain our strength and become the number one power in the world."
[...]
So, what does this conversation from 1992 prove?
The article really speaks for itself. Essentially Tom was told in 1992 that a black communist named "Barack" that fit all the details of a Illinois State Senator, then a US Senator, then a man who ran for Democratic Party nomination. Despite all this, he didn't feel the need to ever say anything until after the 2008 presidential election. Sounds like the making of complete bullshit. I don't need sources to disprove this, as even Corky from Life Goes On could have figured out the stink behind this article within the first few sentences.
One of the most obvious examples of how "alternative media" can simply make things up - Alex Jones says otherwise - can be shown in the reports early in August 2009 that there was an attempted coup against the Saudi Arabian government.
Pakistan Daily came out with an article on August 6, 2009 stating that Russian president Medvedev was shocked at a report that President Obama had received $18 billion dollars from Iran to his personal bank account for his backing of an attempted coup of Saudi Arabia[78].
Obviously nobody in the media reported this. Is this because it was hidden by the overbearing Illuminati tangled media? Well, not really.
The previous day on August 5, 2009 Global Research, a web site that conspiracy theorists love due to lack of fact checking, reported that Iran announced the former ambassador to the United States from Saudi Arabia was under house arrest in Saudi Arabia for an attempted conspiracy against the monarchy[77].
The Iranian article in question reports the same thing on the 2nd of August. Nothing at all about major American involvement, nothing about $18 billion, and so on.
Going back even further to September 3, 2008 there was a report that Iran had published nearly the exact same article as in August 2009, except the first time it was a little different[79].
So, why did Iran's state-run media report the same thing twice nearly a year apart, both times acting like it just happened? Well, that's because Iran hates both Saudi Arabia and America for reasons I won't get into here. It seems to me that Iran is attempting to make Saudi Arabia look more unstable than it really is.
But this still doesn't explain where Pakistan Daily came up with the $18 billion being transferred to Obama. The article in question even references the Iranian article. It claims that "FSB" reported the $18 billion transfer in October 2008.
Why would Iran transfer $18 billion to a man that's not even president yet?
Well, whatever FSB is never explained, and the only references to "FSB" along with $18 billion I can find inevitably trace back to an article from whatdoesitmean.com[80], where a verbatim copy of the article at Pakistan Daily rests, and this site is also the original source.
Sorcha Faal is the creator of this web site and "alternative media" outlet. Essentially it can best by summarized as a place where Sorcha Faal makes imaginary connections between different news stories, in most cases simply making details up and also sees how these are connected to Nostradamus, Freemasonry, etc. The web site also has articles from other contributors who may actually be Sorcha Faal. Sorcha also takes real articles from other web sites and republishes them. Interestingly enough, you can find a hell of a lot of articles and references to Iranian state-run media which is obviously the most honest news source in TV and reported there were no riots during the last election. It adds a whole new level to idiotic conspiracy site.
Nidal Malik Hasan, the shooter in Fort Hood mass shooting, was once an adviser to Obama.
Various forms of this rumor exist (some say he had a personal "brainstorming session" with Obama), but the reality is that Nidal was in a room with a few hundred other people, he did not advise the president at all, sit on any task force for Homeland Security, or write any documents to advise the president. There is no evidence to say Obama has any connection with the shooting at Fort Hood[83].
