Level: 0 | During the debate on January 16, 2012 Ron Paul stated that he was in favor of raising national defense <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyrqOzCf1eI>. As everyone is aware, Ron Paul also voted against the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 because of it's "indefinite detention clause". Now why is he against the now law that allows him to construct these military bases he was talking about? He can't do that with his presidential powers given to him by the constitution. He has no control over the money needed to construct these defense structures. That's Congress's power. The NDAA already granted the military spending for all of these and more. Even more so, the indefinite detention clause actually works in favor of national security. It gives him the power to detain terror suspects and actual terrorists for any time he wants to, unless Paul is in favor of allowing dangerous or potentially dangerous to the US criminals to run around freely which we can assume he does after his reaction to Anwar Alaki's death. This is why Ron Paul and his supporters should be in favor of the NDAA. | |||||
