Why would the farms be unprofitable ?

Instead of people paying for food from someone else who is adding profit on top of the cost of producing said food, it can be produced in house at the same cost and sold at cost, thus providing people with cheaper food.

Selling at cost = no profit = unprofitable. At best the company might break even, but I don't see how it would lower costs in any way overall.

If Nanos knew anything about business, do you really think he would be homeless?

I thought that building chained to his solar car was his house.
