Even Lord's conservative colleagues are calling him out on his lynching semantics, but what amazes me is the amount of mental gymnastics Lord will go through to defend his position.

So how could Ms. Sherrod have said with such assurance her relative was lynched?

Essentially Lord's argument is that since lynching was not a crime in the Deep South, no blacks were lynched.
