Genuine American Monster Level: 70 CS Original | They say you can never go back, but if there's one thing TPM has learned over the years, it's that Glenn Beck doesn't adhere to conventional wisdom. Which is why we cooked up some Easy Mac, cracked open a Keystone Light, and revisited TPM: The College Years by enrolling in the online lecture series known as "Beck University." In the latest installment Wednesday night, called "Charity 101," we learned what charity has to do with federalism. (Hint: Nothing.) Once again, the lecture began with a message from Beck himself, explaining that this week's class "is not going to teach you how to give, who to give to." Instead, it will "teach you how our federal government is set up" because "right now [the federal government is] teaching you that they'll be charitable in your name." "You pay your tax," Beck said, "and they'll give it to somebody that they deem" worthy of the charity. http://tpmlivewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/07/talkin-bout-my-glenn-eration.php?ref=fpb

President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Herbert Camacho: porn star and five-time ultimate smackdown wrestling champion! Level: 150 CS Original | On a side note I noticed how people on the far right love changing the meanings of words, such as using Libertarian, when outside the US that typically refers to real Anarchists, not free market capitalists. Or mixing non-American classical liberalism with Jesus and calling it "conservative." Or using populism to mean Ron Paul and love of giving big business tax cuts. Or in a recent thing I noticed, claiming Federalism means States Rights. Welfare is something like less than 1% of the budget, yet apparently everyone's stealing my tax dollars. I think about things as I drive on my tax built high way to go eat at a restaurant that I can trust the food is safe because of my tax funded FDA and USDA. I mean, you can go on and on with this.
