 Genuine American Monster Level: 70 CS Original | Shirley Sherrod, an appointee to the USDA, was forced to resign yesterday after Big Government posted a video of a speech Sherrod gave in March. In the video, Sherrod, who is black, recounts how, 24 years ago, she didn't help a white farmer as much as she could. In the speech, given to a local Georgia chapter of the NAACP, Sherrod recounts a time when, while she was working for a land assistance fund, a white farmer came and asked her for help. ---- Unfortunately, it seems that in typical Breitbart fashion, this was all taken out of context to manufacture a controversy: ----- The 82-year-old wife of the white Georgia farmer who was supposedly discriminated against some quarter century ago by the black USDA official forced to resign this week -- if the video released by Andrew Breitbart's Big Government and re-run by Fox is to be believed -- is now confirming that in fact Shirley Sherrod saved her and her husband's farm from bankruptcy and is a "friend for life." http://www.talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/2010/07/not_looking_good_for_breitbart.php | |||||
