I say, bloody crackdown on Friday ends with Mubarak fleeing the country, ineffectual tepidly (but not rabidly) pro-Hamas government takes charge.

Discuss.

There will not suddenly be an RBE, no matter what TZM says.

That said, I'm glad to see Mubarek and some of these other despotic regimes come down. So...I think some new regime will come to power. Possibly pro-Hamas, possibly not. I don't really know enough to say.

Is there any chance that the US gets involved?

US appears to be calling for Mubarek to not run for reelection. As far as I can tell, otherwise keeping out of Egypt's business as much as possible, but I may be wrong.

I honestly didn't see this ever coming in Egypt. I thought, ok Egypt has dealt with this sort of thing for thousand of years well as far as things getting extremely bad what makes this any different. I know about rebel groups in Egypt that conducted their meetings on facebook as well as real life but never thought they would ever do this.

It's funny that Mubarak gives speeches that it's perfectly normal for these protests to be happening. Like it happens all the time and he allows it to happen. The people in Egypt know that if they keep this guy in power their going to be in a world of hurt so it's either do or die. I expect Mubarak to be out of there anytime.

If pro-HMAS get in, how long do you think until Israel will go on the offensive (6-day war style)?

I don't believe Mubarak, he is a liar you gotta get the guy totally out of power and then appoint people for a new system of government.

The concept of a radical islamic government getting into power is a unlikely scenario. It feeds into evangelical christian paranoia about the end times as alot of them consider Islam to be the devil and vowing for world domination.

I think that most people in Egypt do not want a theocratic government, they want freedom. Obviously as with every revolution their will be a power vacuum and you will have different people trying to get their ideas out into the open. What they need to do is ensure the next government is actually a democratic one that represents all the people and that it doesn't become even worse than before

Regime-change is the only certain outcome...and even then, the man at top may change, but the policies may not.

I'm not convinced that change will come, regardless of who steps down, but maybe I am cynical when it comes to protests...
