Vice President Joe Biden said on Sunday's "Meet the Press" that Wikileaks founder Julian Assange is closer to a terrorist than a journalist.

From the transcript:

David Gregory: Mitch McConnell says he's a high tech terrorist, others say this is akin to the Pentagon Papers. Where do you come down?

Biden: I would argue that it's closer to being a high tech terrorist than, than the Pentagon Papers . But look, this guy has, has done things that have damaged and, and put into jeopardy the lives and, and occupations of people in other parts of the world. He's made it more difficult for us to conduct our, our business with our allies and our friends. For example, in my meetings, you know I meet with most of these world leaders , there is a desire now to meet with me alone rather than have staff in the room. It makes things more cumbersome. And so it is, it has done damage.

Biden did, however, note that that depends on how Assange got the cables.

Gregory: Do you think he's a criminal?

Biden: If he conspired to get these classified documents with a member of the U.S. military , that's fundamentally different than if somebody drops on your lap, "Here, David , you're a press person, here is classified material."

I get flamed on Twitter every time I mention something against Assange, and I don't even agree with Biden. I don't think he should be prosecuted, just ignored.

Assange has become a hero for the left, even though he's nothing but a self aggrandizing, self serving narcissist.

Who has Assange ever helped?

No one but himself.

I agree with Matt on Assange's motives for his "noble" deeds. I do personally hold government secrecy in a very high level of contempt, but I don't buy the intentions put forth by Assange. Hell, even some of his former colleagues have jettisoned themselves from the Assange famewagon to start OpenLeaks.

Wait, why does everyone here hate Assange?

(too ignorant about him and Wikileaks to have a stance)

Heard an interview with him on BBC/NPR World and just could not believe how egotistical he is. He's not a journalist, claims that his sex charges are part of some conspiracy against him but then tries to double back on his actions when leaks are released regarding him. Really, the interview was so freaking painful to listen to, and I just got more upset when I heard his former colleagues jumped ship on him because he became such an arrogant ass.

Here's the interview I heard today:

I get upset every time he calls himself a journalist. Wikileaks was better before this guy jumped into the limelight.

I heard that interview. Assange is an insufferable asshole. I wish someone would take him out just because he's such a smug bastard.

He is not a journalist. Not even close. He's not doing the world a great service. He's an annoying kid who thinks he's hot shit with a computer, nothing more.

I don't see the big deal about him. Just ignore him. He's never done anything worth getting in a huff about, so just let the guy do what he wants to do. It's not going to change anything.

Why do you say he's a hacker? Installing MediaWiki and acting like a douche bag doesn't make one a hacker.

That was his gimmick when he was younger.

But his attitude remains the same.
