Republican Rep. Sue Myrick (R-NC) often appears on Fox News to discuss her theory that agents of the Lebanese militant group Hezbollah are infiltrating the U.S. through the Mexican border by posing as illegal immigrants.

On Sunday, former (and possibly future) presidential candidate Mike Huckabee was shocked that the Obama Administration is ignoring the threat: "This porous border, where we see people running across at will, if Hezbollah, a very, very deadly terrorist organization, can use that network to get into the U.S., all of these pat-downs at the airport are meaningless."

As we've reported, Myrick believes Hezbollah "is partnering with Mexican drug cartels in the U.S. borderlands and may be planning 'Israel-like car bombings of Mexican/USA border personnel or National Guard units.'" Part of her evidence of this is that "well trained officials are beginning to notice the tattoos of gang members in prisons are being written in Farsi" along the Southwest border.

She's since expanded on this theory, claiming that because Hugo Chavez and Mahmoud Ahmadinejad are "very good friends," Iranian members of Hezbollah "go from of course Iran into Venezuela, stay up to two years, learn the language, get false documents, and then transit up through Mexico to come across our border."

Huckabee had Myrick on his show on Sunday, and was quite alarmed at this "pretty explosive information," because "we're not hearing this - not from the Department of Homeland Security."

Myrick replied that the DHS has not responded to her letter about the subject, which she sent back in June, calling for a task force to investigate Hezbollah's presence along the border. But "they had a spokesman say we had no evidence of operational activity along the border," she said.

"Nobody wants to pay attention," said Myrick.

No one except Huckabee: "You have the drug cartels who are using the expertise of Hezbollah, one of the most sophisticated terrorist organizations, for their own sinister purposes. But Hezbollah, obviously, is using it is because it gets them access to the United States without having to worry about getting on an air plane."

He then urged his viewers to contact their Congressmen and encourage them to join in Myrick's fight.

The DHS did not immediately return TPM's request for comment.
