Genuine American Monster Level: 70 CS Original | Virginia Beach is the biggest city in Virginia, and the hometown of the state's current Republican Governor, Bob McDonnell. Now it's also home to the latest example of a racist email forward destroying a prominent conservative's political credibility and possibly career. As the progressive Blue Virgina blog reported Monday -- and I independently confirmed from one of the recipients Tuesday -- Virginia Beach Republican Party chair Dave Bartholomew forwarded a racist email comparing African Americans to dogs. The email, subject line "my, dog," consists of a racist parable about African Americans and welfare. In the first 24 hours since the email came to light, Democrats condemned Bartholomew and he resigned his position with the Republican Party. The text of the message, in full: MY DOG I went down this morning to sign up my Dog for welfare. At first the lady said, "Dogs are not eligible to draw welfare". So I explained to her that my Dog is black, unemployed, lazy, can't speak English and has no frigging clue who his Daddy is. So she looked in her policy book to see what it takes to qualify... My Dog gets his first check Friday. Is this a great country or what? http://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/10/racist-email-flap-blows-up-virgina-beach-gop.php?ref=fpb

Paid Disinformation Blogger Level: 14 CS Original | Republicans really have a problem with joke emails. You would think the Republican Party would send a memo saying, "Look, we don't care if you think it's funny...don't forward email jokes EVER!" But of course the Republican Party nominated Nixon 3 times and Bush Jr. twice, so we can't expect them to be rational on any level.
