Shit, I don't know. On many issues I'm very left, and on some issues I'm very conservative. Most people think that describes a Libertarian but I'm definitely NOT a Libertarian. I lean towards U.S. interventionism overseas, which Libertarians hate, and I favor strong controls on business and economics, which Libertarians really hate. Plus I wouldn't wipe my ass with pages from an Ayn Rand book and they all love her.

I'm currently registered as a Democrat and I support Obama on many but not all things.

I'm just slightly left of Hitler, and I'm only saying that because I wanted to bring up Hitler.

Actually I'm on the extreme left, but you can't blame me, that's how I was raised! Poor me!

As for who I vote for, I've voted for both Democrats and Republicans, it really depends. I mostly concentrate on local elections, when it comes to things like President, I throw my vote away because I'm only in the booth to vote for other people. Last time 'round I voted for Brian Moore - Socialist Party.

I was registered as a Communist Party supporter or whatever for many years, but I changed to Independent in the late 90s. Though, to clarify, I've never personally been a member of the Communist Party, I have a problem with paying dues and the constant flame-wars which make up all of their meetings.

I don't think I actually fit on the scale. I distrust markets, I don't think privatization of power is sensible, but I also don't think drowning everybody in welfare programs and taxes is the way to go.

I'm working on a book on failures of the market economy, and possible alternatives that actually increase the ability of an economy to be aware of happiness, resource depletion and environmental issues.

That said, I'm quite pragmatic, when it comes to real life. I avoid taxes where legally possible, I outsource work, I live a decent lifestyle with multiple homes (although I wouldn't really have a problem with giving it up, if it would make sense) and I neither save energy nor educate myself about the companies I buy from. And I don't vote.

I consider myself something of a moderate Democrat. I support strong regulation of Wall Street, particularly commodities. I tend to pretty pro-gun and am licensed to carry concealed. On social issues I tend to be pretty libertarian. On fiscal issues I tend to be conservative on state and local government spending and liberal on federal spending. While I consider myself pretty pro-business and strongly support using the government to promote business (using the government to bring high-speed internet to rural ares and leading a green energy revolution) the teabaggers think it's socialism. I backed the government rescue of GM and Chrysler and even supported TARP (because despite how bad the banks are their failure would cause a second great depression). I am also not a fan of the welfare state and have seen first hand abuse it in disgusting ways, but I'm not advocating getting rid of it.

As for voting I will not be voting for Rand Paul for senate but I will be backing a Republican for state rep. I'm boycotting my congressional election because they both suck. There is a sherif's race that I'm undecided on. I find it silly especially on the state and local level to vote by someone because of party. Most people who run for those offices are only running on the party that gives them the best chance to win and are not members because of their personal views.

I'm also center-left. The Political Compass test thingy says I'm libertarian left but I'm not really a libertarian at all. I think business should be very regulated. I see the value of both capitalism and socialism, and would like to see their weak points worked out and their strengths combined, which I think will happen as scientific understanding increases, although public opinion still needs to be changed.

The only valuable idea I see presented by the right is the idea that public institutions can be run more efficiently. Everything else they say is garbage. Their ideas about the economy are especially woeful. And their wanting to cut education funding is inadmissible to me. You can cut education funding after you've fixed the education system. Not before.

I think this will be the first year I vote. I will vote for marijuana legalization in California and for the democrats, just because I don't like the republicans and think they will do a bad job.

I would say center left also. I'm pro gun and I always carry concealed. I like strong regulations on business. I was against the Iraq War. So far I'm planning on voting for Obama in 2012.

Oh ya, I'm pro-gun too even though I don't own one and dunno if I ever will. Guess that's another thing I'm okay with republicans about.

Lets see I'm for small government, no or little taxes as possible, I'm for the 2nd amendment, I do carry a concealed gun, I am pro-choice as well. I tend to not want to vote on partylines, I do not consider myself Republican or a democrat although I have registered as a Demcorat in the past I'd probably be considered a bluedog Democract. If you didn't know me you'd think I was a Republican. I don't consider myself liberal or conservative and I never been a tea bagger or for Ron Paul. After voting in every election possible the one coming up on Nov I have really considered not voting.

Also like Kepp, but unlike other people on the very fart left, I'm pro-gun. I own several firearms, and I also conceal and carry, I even have a permit to do so. If someone makes a gun thread, I'd gladly discuss there in ;D

I am going to correct myself on something I have no clue what the 2nd amendment is nor do I care I just like guns and like carrying them. I just say the 2nd amendment because I was apart of a gun club and they always are scared about people taking away their toys. They have the 2nd amendment on a plaque somewhere for everyone to see.

I guess this puts me in the minority here, as the closest one to libertarian. On economics I lean to the left, though. I think the government should have regulations to an extent on business so that people can't be robbed or taken advantage of, and I don't believe in monopolies. Other then that, I think government's only other role should be to protect us, and provide health care.

On the other hand, I think the FCC is horseshit and should be eliminated. If you don't like something, change the fucking channel.

I am almost the complete opposite of Muertos in terms of overseas intervention. I don't think we belong there or anywhere, nor did we ever belong there, before and after 9/11. And yes, I do have a military family history going back to WWII.

Socially I am very libertarian, bordering on anarchist. Growing up with a black father, and Portuguese mother, we were raised to be self sufficient and take care of ourselves and our family, and not rely on the government for anything other then half of what I posted above.

I don't believe in victimless crimes, and support the legalization of prostitution and marijuana. As for the harder drugs, well I don't think you should be put in jail for using, but for selling I am still on the fence about. Personally if I had to chose, I would prefer strict regulation to full illegalization.

I believe everyone is their own person, and should only be held responsible mainly for themselves and their kids.

I will never vote for a Republican or Democrat in my lifetime.

How many libertarians would vote for one of the two major parties if either one promised to legalize pot?

Probably all of them under 30.

Yeah, makes sense.

Basically, what I get is that you want government to provide you with a comfortable lifestyle without you having to give anything back to the government.

Does smoking pot really mean this much to you?

Not really, I haven't smoked pot since I was 16. And I never said anything about a comfortable lifestyle, but I do believe in public option for health care for people that can't afford it. I'm not really that big on welfare to be honest. Yeah, I think the elderly and people with mental conditions should be housed, as well as kids, but I don't think it should be the government's job to give me a house, feed me, or give me work.
